This DVD contains three episodes from Osamu Tezuka's 1966 sequel to Kimba The White Lion, known in English as Leo The Lion. (The name change from Kimba to Leo was because the translators of this series wanted to keep the Japanese names for the characters.)
The three episodes are:
The Birth of Rune and Rukio
The Green Plague
The Eternal Mount Moon
Taken together, these three episodes cover much of the same story elements as the 1997 feature film, Jungle Emperor Leo. That feature film was made long after Tezuka's death and based on the way he published his story in manga form.
The story presented here was supervised by Tezuka himself in 1966 and reflects his own first plan for the story, before he made changes for the manga.
An Antidote to the Feature Film
Many fans have said that they were very unhappy with the way the feature film ended. For those fans, this DVD offers the relief they crave--they can see a much different outcome and future for their favorite lion family.
And if you were happy with the feature film, these TV episodes make a wonderful companion to the film, because they were, after all, written by Osamu Tezuka himself.
The episodes on this DVD were newly restored using the best available materials and are presented dubbed in English, COMPLETE and UNCUT for the first time ever on DVD.
Approximate running time: 70 minutes.
