Leo the Lion: Special Edition

Created as a companion to the Jungle Emperor Leo movie, this DVD contains 3 episodes from the Leo the Lion series:
  • Leo Becomes a Father -- Rune and Rukio are born. Rune has to learn a tough lesson. (5)
  • The Green Plague -- A deadly disease sweeps through the jungle, even affecting Leo's family. (25)
  • The Eternal Mount Moon -- Leo leads a party of humans on a fateful expedition to Mount Moon. (26)
Taken together, these 3 episodes present much of the same story as the movie, but while the movie follows Tezuka's story as published in the manga, these Leo the Lion episodes show his original thoughts for the ending of the story. Many Kimba fans consider these episodes to be a sort of "antidote" to the traumatic ending of the movie.
